Student Inc. Programme Highlights:

Getting permission to do a complete 360 and start from scratch with a new business idea. I remember how excited and relieved I was that day and dived straight into the market research. I really enjoyed analysing the market research too, the results were fascinating and knowing how to do it correctly was a massive bonus.

Any previous entrepreneurship experience before you joined Student Inc.?

In 1st year I was approached last minute by friends on my course to pitch their business idea with them as they had hopes of qualifying for the Student Inc. programme. Despite the fact I had very little information on their idea and I had joined on a whim it was great to learn about the business model canvas and to get exposure to pitching for the first time. Although it was not the most successful pitch it certainly set the entrepreneurial seed.

What connections did you make on the programme?

I have made remarkable connections on the programme and my LinkedIn community is expanding almost every day. The direction I have received from the mentors and speakers has morphed my business to what it has become and to where it will go in the next few months and years. I have connected with trusted advisors and successful entrepreneurs, all of whom have been inspirational in their own journeys and successes. I look forward to keeping in contact with those I have connected with and continuing to learn from their experiences and grow my business with their guidance.

What advice would you give to someone thinking of applying to Student Inc.?

Student Inc is the OPPORTUNITY OF A LIFETIME despite if your initial idea is a success or not. You will learn so much through the programme and meet fascinating people. The skills and lessons you will learn on the programme will stick with you for life and give you the tools to be a successful entrepreneur whether it is now or later.

What was your greatest learning from the programme?

Personally, the most important lesson I have learnt is the importance of doing something you are passionate about, it is so important to love what you are doing and not to focus completely on the paycheque at the end. I also realised while passion is vital you must also be realistic about your timelines and goals and take the time to plan ahead.
